N.B: We will always carefully consider any requests for assistance on a job by job basis depending on the nature, urgency and risk assessment of the request. Aircraft and crew safety is critical and paramount at all times. Pilots will never compromise either or break the law.

Air Search is not an emergency first response or rescue service, although we can deploy to situations deemed an emergency under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, at the request of the appropriate authorities as a secondary responder.

If your enquiry relates to a crime in progress or a life and death situation happening now please call 999 and ask for the relevant service: Police, Fire, Ambulance, Coastguard.

  • Think you've got what it takes to join the team?
  • Have a few spare hours a month?
  • Want to give something back to the community?

If you are interested in joining then please fill in the form below and tell us a bit about yourself, your aircraft, equipment and other relevant experience you might have – whatever your background, your local knowledge when you fly will be of great value to us and those we serve. Once your registration has been received the coordinator of your local area will contact you.

Air Search volunteers are geographically spread all over the UK. Some areas are well developed and have many pilots – other units have only a few pilots and observers. If there isn’t anybody close to you then maybe you'd like to form a new area. You could be a key factor in building relationships & raising awareness, exciting pilots and emergency services alike – you can play an important role by building the nationwide infrastructure Air Search has been striving to create over the years.
